Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, the story of a mythic House!

Go back in time and follow the footstep of the mythic Champagne Veuve Clicquot! Learn more about the House and discover its particularities!

When establishing his wine business, Philippe Clicquot wanted to follow one specific motto: ‘cross all borders’. Within the year, the first shipment leaves for Italy! This was just the first step, the name of the House will then cross many countries and continents: Swiss, Germany, Czech Republic, India, Austria…

After her husband’s death, the 27-years-old Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin takes over the Business and become one of the first business women of modern time! The lady gives the House a new pulse, by changing its name and through the creation of the famous Yellow Label in 1877. Madame Clicquot is also the creator of the first Vintage Champagne! In 1816 a new invention is created thanks to her: the riddling table, still used nowadays in wine clarification process. She will then be known to her peers as ‘La Grande Dame’ of Champagne.
