Day 1 : the History of the Champagne region

At your arrival in Reims, we welcome you and give you all the information you need to enjoy your stay in Champagne.

You start your day with a guided tour of the Cathedral of Reims and the Palais du Tau. From 1027 to 1825, these two buildings hosted the coronation ceremonies of the French monarchs.

At lunchtime, you enjoy a three-course menu especially designed for you in an elegant and welcoming restaurant of the city center.

In the early afternoon, you keep following the thread of the history of Champagne. You visit a former military base from the First World War called the Fort de la Pompelle. There, you understand the strategic role the region has played during the darkest times of the 20th century.

Then, it is time for you to discover another key period of the history of Reims : the interwar years and the reconstruction of the city. Our guide shows you the major architectural wealth of Reims : the Art Deco style.

At the end of the day, you go to the hotel or the guest house you have chosen among our selection.

Day 2 : the History of Champagne

After breakfast, you head to the magnificient village of Hautvillers. The history of the village is closely related to Champagne’s. Discover the story of the most renowned monk of the abbey : Dom Perignon, who once invented the Champagne blending process.

At lunchtime, you stop at the most charming restaurant of the village. There, you get familiar with the diversity of grape varieties en Champagne, tasting cuvées made from each one of them. The welcoming owners pair these cuvées with local specialities. Savour a pure regional tasting lunch.

In the early afternoon, you keep traveling through time. You reach the city of Epernay and visit its prestigious Avenue de Champagne. Admire the opulent 19th-century buildings that the most prominent Champagne houses occupy.

Your stay ends with a guided tour and tasting at a “Grande Maison de Champagne”. You truly plunge into the heart of a famous Champagne House and discover the cellars, where millions of bottles are aging.
